How We Work
The Brasswind Methodology
Every piece that comes through the workshop follows the same intake process regardless of service type: photography, assessment, written scope agreement. Nothing begins without your explicit acceptance of what's planned.
Once the work is underway, any significant finding — a worn component, a damaged jewel, a movement issue that changes the scope — is communicated before action is taken. We don't proceed on assumptions.
At completion, you receive a written record covering everything done, any notable findings, and timing results where applicable. This document travels with the watch and provides continuity for future services.

Service 01
Routine Servicing & Cleaning
Careful disassembly of the movement, ultrasonic cleaning of individual components, fresh lubrication at each service point, and regulation to keep timekeeping steady. Suited to quartz and mechanical pieces due for periodic care. Includes gasket inspection and a written record of the work carried out.
Full movement disassembly and component-level cleaning
Ultrasonic bath for components; rinse and drying
Fresh lubrication with calibre-appropriate oils and greases
Gasket inspection; replacement noted if needed

Service 02
Case & Dial Refinishing
Gentle case polishing, crystal replacement, and dial detailing that respects the original character of the piece. A measured approach focused on preserving rather than over-restoring. Includes a pre-work assessment so the owner can review the planned steps before anything is done.

Selective case polishing — only to the degree the owner requests
Crystal replacement: mineral, sapphire, or acrylic as appropriate
Dial surface cleaning without disturbing original lume or printing

Complication & Heritage Overhaul
Full overhaul of chronographs, calendars, and older calibers, with component refurbishment where parts allow. A longer, methodical process for cherished and vintage timepieces. Documented stage by stage so the owner understands each decision made along the way.

Standards Applied to Every Piece
Intake Photography
Condition on arrival is recorded photographically. A condition note forms part of the intake receipt.
Secure Storage
Watches not on the bench are kept in a locked cabinet. Workshop access is controlled during all working hours.
Timing Machine Results
Mechanical movements are tested post-service on a timing machine. Results accompany the service record.
Scope Consent
No additional work proceeds without your updated agreement. Scope changes are communicated before action.
Written Service Record
A plain-language record of the service — what was done, what was found — is returned with the watch at collection.
Open Communication
Questions during the service period are welcomed. We'll update you on progress when anything material changes.
